Despite the fact that I have always enjoyed listening to a wide variety of music, Paperboys did not come to my attention before the spring of 2005, at the occasion of a housewarming party at Steen & Maren's. Steen was bursting with excitement, according to him I was about to have an unforgettable experience - he referred to a band that surpassed Runrig and Great Big Sea. We were to hear Canada's most toured band play for us during the course of the evening. When we did, I have to admit I was hooked at once that night in 2005. Amazingly this band consisted of 5 unfettered individualists and yet they functioned as a close knit unit. When I listen to Runrig, or for that matter's sake Rolling Stones, it is easy to discern whether the track was an original version or a copy, for example by the way the strings are strummed etc. What really surprised me with Paperboys is that it is not possible to discern such persistence even when band members are replaced. Every number feels new and "live" every time and the joy of listening to their music is enhanced manyfold due to this..
